To commemorate the thriving fisheries sector in the country, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) joins the nation in celebrating the 58th Fish Conservation Week with the theme “Pangisdaang Likas-kaya, Bunga’y Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita”.
This week-long event is conducted every third week of September as part of the yearly observance of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo).
MANA Mo was built under the Presidential Proclamation No. 316 series of 2017 to harmonize, integrate, and synchronize programs and activities that will raise the level of national consciousness on maritime and archipelagic issues and concerns.
During the opening ceremony of the 58th Fish Conservation Week on September 13, Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar said that this celebration aims to give highlights on the importance of sustainable fisheries management and development in achieving abundance for the Filipino fisherfolk whose livelihood depends on the integrity of the oceans and its resources.
As the government’s private arm towards achieving a sustainable fisheries industry, the PFDA will continue to stay true to its mandate of promoting the industry’s development. The agency will continue to provide post-harvest infrastructure facilities and essential services that can help improve efficiency in the handling and distribution of fish and fishery products and enhance their quality.

It has come to our attention that a certain MICHAEL LIM is posing as an employee of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and/or the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) and offering the public, particularly interested fish importers, assistance in securing accreditation from BFAR and PFDA in exchange of a consideration other than the required legal fees.
PLEASE BE INFORMED that:
1. Michael Lim is NOT an employee of BFAR or PFDA and is in no way connected with the said offices; and
2. The processing of accreditation of qualified importers shall be directly transacted with the concerned BFAR and PFDA offices only.
We hereby warn the general public against unscrupulous persons engaged in fraudulent activities who are misrepresenting officials and employees of BFAR and PFDA. We condemn such act and request the public to immediately report such activity to us.

PFDA, BFAR muling tatanggap ng importers sa ilalim ng FAO 259
Muling tatanggap ang Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), kasama ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), ng mga aplikasyon para sa mga qualified importers ng frozen fish at aquatic products sa ilalim ng Department of Agriculture (DA) - Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) No. 259 s. 2018.
Sa pangunguna ng PFDA, maaari nang magpasa ng mga kinakailangang dokumento ang mga mang-aangkat para sa pre-qualification registration hanggang ika-20 ng Setyembre, 2021. Para sa kaligtasan ng lahat sa gitna ng pandemiya, hinihikayat ng ahensya ang mga kliyente na magpasa ng mga kinakailangan dokumento online. Ang mga naipasang aplikasyon ay isasailalim sa masusing pagtitiyak ng PFDA. Siguraduhing laging nakaantabay sa kalagayan ng inyong aplikasyon na ipapadala sa pamamagitan ng e-mail, text or tawag sa loob ng tatlong (3) araw.
Higit sa lahat, tiyakin na wasto at tama ang inyong ipapasang aplikasyon dahil ang anumang uri ng falsification o paglabag sa anumang alituntunin ng PFDA ay magpapawalang-bisa sa inyong aplikasyon na maaaring humantong sa kasong kriminal, sibil, o administratibo.
Tulad ng nabanggit, ang bahaging ito ng PFDA ay pre-qualification lamang. Upang maging ganap na importer sa ilalim ng FAO 259, ang mga kliyente na nagnanais mag-angkat ay maaaring makipag-ugnayan sa BFAR para sa mga susunod pang panuntunan na kinakailangang ipasa.
Ang FAO 259 ay naglalayong pataasin ang suplay ng isda at iba pang laman-dagat sa pamamagitan ng pag-angkat ng sapat na dami na kinakailangan ng bansa sa tuwing ipinapatupad ang closed at off-fishing seasons o sa tuwing may kalamidad. Bukod pa rito, layunin ng FAO 259 na mabalanse ang suplay at demand sa mga produktong pangisdaan upang magkaroon ng patas na halaga nang hindi naapektuhan ang mga lokal na producers at mangingisda.
Sa patuloy na pakikipaglaban sa pandemiyang dulot ng COVID-19 virus, patuloy din ang laban ng mga ahensya tulad ng PFDA, BFAR, at DA upang masugpo ang problema ng gutom at kakulangan ng suplay ng pagkain sa bansa. PFDA Weekly Briefer for the August 30 to September 5, 2021 period
Despite moderate to heavy rains continuously pelting down nationwide, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) braved the extreme weather and steered towards a significant increase in fish unloading volume during the August 30 to September 5, 2021 period.
Based on a two-week comparative report prepared by the Operations Services Department (OSD), PFDA RFPs unloaded 9,509.21 metric tons (MT) of fish. This record is equivalent to a significant 16.17 percent increase.
This week, records showed that PFDA – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) managed to recoup from a dip and took the top spot as the fish port with the highest volume of unloaded fish totaling 5,328.28 MT (54.55% increase).
Subsequently, PFDA – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) and PFDA – Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA-LFPC) also made a significant recovery in their weekly unloading volume. The ports delivered 479.47 MT (52.19%) and 401.17 MT (29.60%), respectively.
Also, PFDA – Sual Fish Port (PFDA-SFP) recorded an increase of 66.77%, equal to 72.73 MT of fish.
On the other hand, the ports with the highest increase in terms of percentage were PFDA – Davao Fish Port (PFDA-DFPC) with a 745.01% increase (40.69 MT) and PFDA – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) with a 396.82% increase (356.42 MT).
As of September 5, all PFDA RFPs have unloaded a total of 823,746.29 MT of fish since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC), led by the Office of the Port Manager (OPM), conducted thorough disinfection activities in different port facilities including the administration building and market hall to fight against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, held on September 8, 2021.
As the National Capital Region remains under Modified ECQ, PFDA-NFPC would like to ensure that all port facilities are sanitized rigorously to avoid the spread of the contagious virus.
In addition, the port would like to guarantee all its consumers that the port operations are conducted in a safe and clean environment and that the quality of fishery products unloaded in the port area is on the top of the priority list.
PFDA-NFPC would like to remind everyone visiting the port to strictly observe proper health protocols like wearing face masks and face shields, proper sanitizing, and social distancing to keep the port coronavirus-free.
Some of the groups and organizations who worked with the agency to facilitate this disinfection activity are officials and members of the Rotary International District 3800 Zone 1 in Navotas and Malabon, San Miguel Corporation, St. Joseph Fish Brokerage Inc., Kai Anya Food Distributors, Inc., BMIL-BSL at Delta Fire Volunteer Team, Manila Alliance Management Services Cooperative, and Catalina Security Agency.

In the pursuit of delivering sufficient fishery products to all consumers, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) opened the gates of its newly constructed Market Hall to more clients and stakeholders on September 1, 2021.
Originally designed to cater to a maximum of 22 port clients only, the market hall was remodeled and is now occupied by twenty-seven (27) fish brokers/traders and three (3) ice retailers.
In line with this initiative, more port facilities in PFDA-ZFPC are pipelined to be constructed and reintegrated under the agency’s rehabilitation Flagship Project.
Clients and stakeholders who will enter the newly built Market Hall are required to wear their white t-shirts and boots. They must also observe minimum health protocols such as proper sanitation, wearing of face mask and face shield, and social distancing.
Prior to the opening, the ZFPC market hall also had its blessing last August 13, 2021.

Weekly Briefer for the August 23 to 29, 2021 period
Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) delivered 8,185.66 metric tons (MT) of fishery products to all its consumers nationwide despite a slight drop in volume during the August 23 to 29, 2021 period.
According to a two-week comparative report from the Operations Services Department (OSD), PFDA RFPs suffered a bit of a setback during the unloading period due to intensified southwest monsoon rains. Nevertheless, all PFDA ports managed to deliver enough supply to all its clients and stakeholders in their respective regions with quality and affordable fish supply.
Making it on top of the list, PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) was the only port that recorded an almost threefold increase in unloading volume this week, totaling 1,540.79 MT of fish.
On the other hand, PFDA - General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) and PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) were still able to register two of the highest fish unloading volumes despite experiencing a decline. The two big ports unloaded 3,447.69 MT and 2,452.44 MT of fish, respectively.
As of August 29, all PFDA ports have unloaded a total of 814,237.09 MT of fish since the beginning of the pandemic last March 2020.
