Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) successfully convened its regular Board of Directors Meeting for FY 2025 on May 16, 2025, at the Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City.

Before the formal session, members of the PFDA Board of Directors conducted a site inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation and improvement projects at the PFDA-General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC). The visit highlighted the agency’s hands-on approach in monitoring major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery in one of the country’s largest fish ports.

In attendance were key members of the PFDA Board of Directors, including Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Fisheries and Alternate Chairperson Drusila Esther E. Bayate, National Food Authority Administrator Dr. Larry R. Lacson, Department of Public Works and Highways Assistant Secretary Engr. Medmier G. Malig, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Director Romirose B. Padin, and Department of Trade and Industry Division Chief Francis M. Peñaflor.

PFDA Acting General Manager Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan, who sits on the Board as the representative of the Private Sector of the Fishery Industry, led the PFDA contingent during the activities.

Held in one of Mindanao’s key economic zones, the meeting underscored PFDA’s commitment to localizing strategic decision-making by fostering closer engagement with regional ports and key stakeholders.

Several key matters related to PFDA operational and developmental plans were discussed and approved during the session.

This meeting also reinforced the PFDA’s continued push to strengthen its network of fishery post-harvest facilities that are vital for supporting local fisherfolk, minimizing post-harvest losses, and ensuring a more resilient and responsive fisheries supply chain.
