PFDA Weekly Briefer for the September 13 to 19, 2021 unloading period

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) registered 9,208.33 metric tons (MT) of fish despite scattered and intensified southwest monsoon rains during the September 13 to 19, 2021 unloading period.

Based on a two-week comparative report from the Operations Services Department (OSD), PFDA RFPs encountered a slight drop of 8.52 percent in their aggregate weekly unloading volume. Nevertheless, all ports managed to deliver an adequate supply of fish to all their consumers.

According to the report, PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) significantly recovered from last week’s decline after unloading 703.05 MT of fish, equivalent to a 37.73% increase. 

On the other hand, maintaining a two-week volume increase is the PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) with 2,583.72 MT (7.42% increase). 

Meanwhile, PFDA – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) and PFDA – Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA-LFPC) both celebrated an increase in their weekly unloading volume totaling 541.91 MT (28.69 increase) and 272.91 MT (0.02% increase), respectively. 

In addition, PFDA – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) and PFDA – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DPFC) have also recorded a significant rise in their unloading volume. Based on the report, the ports delivered 277.72 MT (1.42% increase) and 145.42 MT (1,363.42% increase), respectively. 

Relative to the constant supply of fish in all PFDA ports, the agency continues to deliver fresh-frozen fish and fishery products through its isDA ON THE GO (iOTG) Flagship Project. Through this project, the PFDA continues to bring healthy food sources closer to all Filipino families. 

This September 2021, the iOTG project sold 3.3 MT  of high-quality and pocket-friendly fishery products to its consumers nationwide. 

As of today, the iOTG initiative has already sold a total of 126.43 MT of affordable fish supply since the pandemic began in March 2020.
