PFDA Agency News 02212024 PFDA attends FishCoRe Operational Planning Workshop 2024

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) attended the Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project Operational Planning Workshop 2024 on February 5 to 9, 2024 at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.

Led by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), the five-day planning aims to strengthen the project's core and fully enliven the strategic plan for the upcoming years.

The workshop mainly focused on intensively informing the different working personnel and other stakeholders in fully implementing the FishCoRe project in Fishery Management Areas (FMA) 6 and 9.

The FishCoRe Project is one of the government's leading initiatives in the fishery sector to attain its goal of 100 percent food-fish sufficiency level by 2028. This project adheres to the three-year plan led by DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. of modernizing the agri-fisheries industry to increase agricultural productivity, lower food costs, ensure food security, and make farming and fisheries a more bankable investment alternative.

PFDA Technical Services Department (PFDA) staff actively participated in the planning workshop. Representatives from the World Bank (WB), Special Projects Coordination & Management Assistance (DA-SPCMAD), and the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) also attended the workshop.
