Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) conducted training on Republic Act (RA) 10173, also known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) on February 27, 2023, at the PFDA Main Conference Room, Quezon City.
The one-day training session focused on enhancing participants’ knowledge of protecting personal information, establishing trust, complying with regulations, maintaining ethical practices, driving innovation, and preserving individual autonomy.
Mr. Ronald Allan Pablo, Assistant Director of Risk Management at DigiPlus Interactive Corporation, served as the resource speaker for the training. Mr. Pablo helped the participants understand the importance of complying with the Data Privacy Act, its IRRs, and other issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
Mr. Pablo began his discussion with an overview of data privacy. He then discussed the importance of understanding data privacy and complying with the NPC. Afterward, Mr. Pablo taught the participants how to implement a Privacy Management Program and identify and develop a breach response plan.
A total of 18 participants actively participated during the data privacy training facilitated by the Administrative Services Department – Human Resources Division in coordination with the Legal Division.
