PFDA Agency News 01262024 resized PFDA DFPC Indonesian Consul General discuss potential partnership

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) met with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City to discuss the proposed partnership between the port and Indonesian fisherfolk and fishing boat operators on January 22, 2023.  

PFDA-DFPC Port Manager Engr. Albert P. Aguinaldo met with OIC-Consulate General and Consul for Protocol and Consul Affairs Mr. Harya Kakerasana Sidharta and Consul for Economic Affairs Ms. Novita S.D. Supit. They talked about the opportunity for Indonesian fish workers to transship, trade, and process their abundant tuna catch.

The two parties discussed the Talaud Island Regency, a marine sanctuary for fresh tuna fishing activities and other similar species, which is strategically proximate to PFDA-DFPC. With this, the PFDA-DFPC management, through the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City, wants to forge a partnership with fisherfolk and fishing boat operators from the island to conduct their operations in the port.

Harbor and Market Operations Division Chief Mr. Kenneth A. Quindao and Admin and Finance Services Division Chief Ms. Marife F. Borja also attended the meeting.
