PFDA Agency News 011224 resized PFDA joins 1st national FishCoRe Project meeting

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Acting General Manager Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan joined the first-ever National Steering Committee Meeting for the country’s newest and biggest project for the fisheries industry–the Philippine Fisheries and Coastal Resiliency (FishCoRe) Project at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource (BFAR) Conference Room on January 10, 2024. 

Led by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusilla Esther E. Bayate, the meeting steered the direction of how the project will run through 2024 and magnified some parts for the betterment of its implementation.

Acting GM Pangapalan, together with DA-BFAR National Director, Atty. Demosthenes R. Escoto and other officials from partner government agencies, such as the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) and the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), showed their support and commitment to the said project.

In collaboration with the World Bank, the FishCoRe Project is a seven-year project that will run from 2023 to 2029. This project aims to improve the management of fishery resources and enhance the value of fisheries production in selected Fisheries Management Areas 6 and 9.
