Thirty-four officers, engineers, and technical personnel from the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Central Office (CO) and Regional Fish Ports (RFP) attended a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Course in a bid to improve equipment management and increase equipment effectiveness on November 20 to 24, 2023 at the University of the Philippines – Institute of Small-Scale Industries (UP-ISSI).

The five-day course equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to implement and sustain TPM practices in their workplace and how they can be applied to improve equipment reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness.

Mr. Rolando Ramon C. Diaz, Head of the UP-ISSI Training and Entrepreneurship Education Division, was the resource speaker throughout the TPM course. Mr. Diaz discussed various topics, including the Diagnostic of Current Maintenance Program, Leadership and People Empowerment, Loss Analysis and Overall Equipment Effectiveness, and the Eight (8) Pillars of Total Productive Maintenance. 

In addition, the participants also prepared a total productive maintenance action plan to address the preventive maintenance issue/s in the workplace, which was presented to and critiqued by Mr. Diaz and the participants.

Mary Ann D. Daquer, Mary Anne Kristine R. Ramos, and Katrina Joyce P. Miguel of the Human Resource Division – Administrative Services Department were the facilitators and coordinators of the five-day training course.
