Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), through its Human Resource Division-ASD (HRD-ASD), resumed its Onboarding Development Program and added an Operating Unit Tour to enhance the experience and knowledge of new hires about the agency and its operations.

After years of postponement due to unprecedented threats brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the PFDA reintroduced its nationwide onboarding program to further strengthen the agency’s organizational workforce. 

On October 11, 2023, the HRD Team led by Mr. Christian Dave V. Fernandez discussed the overview of PFDA, including its mandate, core values, mission, and vision. Mr. Fernandez also discussed the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Employees and Office Decorum, Employee Discipline, Attendance Policies and Procedures, and other HR-related concerns.

Afterward, Information Technology Division-CPMISD Chief Mr. Thadeus A. Mariano discussed the functions of the PFDA Portal, the proper use of official govmail, and other IT-related concerns. Then, Corporate Planning Division OIC-Chief Mr. Aaron Amberson A. Dalisay talked about the PFDA’s Strategic Map, Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) Commitments and Expectations.

Lastly, Engr. Louie Jie Miguel T. Pineda of the Technical Services Department walked the participants through the various PFDA infrastructures and ongoing rehabilitations and constructions nationwide.

Approximately 160 participants from the PFDA-Central Office (PFDA-CO) and Regional Fish Ports (RFP) completed the program.

Meanwhile, on October 25 and 27, 2023, some 36 participants from the PFDA-CO had an Operating Unit Tour in the PFDA–Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) to further expand their knowledge about port operations.

During the tour, the participants learned about the main functions and operations of the port’s Harbor Operations Division, Market Operations Division, and One-stop shop.
