In a bid to reinforce cybersecurity awareness in the agency, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), through its Information Technology Division (ITD)-CPMISD, conducted an agency-wide Technology Education in Cybersecurity Talks (TecTalks) on November 8 to 10, 2023.

This three-day cybersecurity awareness campaign was the agency’s step to staying informed, alert, and proactive in protecting all digital assets and educating all PFDA personnel nationwide.

In her opening remarks, Corporate Planning and Management Information Services Department (CPMISD) Manager Ms. Gina J. Reyes said that the initiative is relevant and timely in the age of virtual workspace both for personal and professional aspects, thus the PFDA Top Management deemed it necessary to have this cybersecurity awareness campaign to protect the clients, stakeholders, and the agency and its employees.

ITD Chief Mr. Thadeus A. Mariano was the resource speaker for the three-day awareness campaign. Mr. Mariano had an in-depth discussion on protecting your account, spotting a fake email, protecting your devices, and the dos and don’ts of cybersecurity practice.

“It is time to be aware because cyberattacks are prevalent nowadays. Cybersecurity starts with us, so let us all make it a way of life. Always remember to STOP, THINK, and ACT SAFELY,” Mr. Mariano said.

Mr. Mariano assured the participants that security measures are continuously implemented, improved, and updated by the ITD to protect the clients, stakeholders, and the agency from the negative entities lurking around our cyberspace.

Participants from all PFDA Central Office units actively participated in the cybersecurity awareness campaign.

Furthermore, staff and personnel from the PFDA Regional Fish Ports are set to have their cybersecurity awareness campaign through their IT Point Person.
