Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Top Management led by Acting General Manager Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan met with officials of the City Government Office (CGO) of Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron and other officials to discuss the potential construction of an integrated fish port in the city, on June 21, 2023.

The two parties talked about opportunities on the proposed Puerto Princesa Integrated Fish Port. The city believes that the establishment of a fish port in Puerto Princesa holds tremendous potential to unlock economic opportunities, strengthen the agricultural and fisheries sector, and foster sustainable development in the country.

During the inspection, the visiting team examined the proposed locations for the project. Puerto Princesa City boasts a strategic location near the West Philippine Sea and Sulu Sea, granting it access to some of the richest fishing grounds in the country.

With this proposal, the Puerto Princesa-CGO is looking at becoming a central hub for fishermen, processors, and other individuals involved in the sector.

PFDA Assistant General Manager Ms. Iris R. de Vera, PFDA-Technical Services Department Manager Engr. Danilo A. Axalan, Frabelle Group of Companies Chair Mr. Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., Mr. Sandy Sandoval, and officers from different departments of the City Government also joined the said meeting.
