2023 April Monthly Briefer

Amidst changes in the weather throughout the month, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) unloaded an aggregate total of 44,721.05 metric tons (MT) of fish across all Regional Fish Port Complex (RFP) nationwide in April 2023.

Data showed that the PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) saw a significant rise as it delivered 23,149.47 MT of fish (38.34% increase) to its consumers. This record was by far the highest log of the Navotas port since July 2022 and the first-ever monthly fish unloading that reached the 20K mark in 2023.

In addition, the PFDA – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) and the PFDA – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) also showed great performances this April after shipping 917.56 MT (31.92% increase) and 424.16 MT (21.19% increase) of fish, respectively.

Subsequently, the PFDA – Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA) maintained its four-month positive trend with 2,362.59 MT of fish (1.43% increase).

Meanwhile, the PFDA – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) suffered a decline in its monthly fish unloading. Nonetheless, the GenSan port still managed to deliver 14,790.08 MT of fish.

Furthermore, the PFDA – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) and the PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) saw a slight decrease in the delivery of fish and other fishery products. Still, the ports delivered 1,938.41 MT and 1,138.79 MT of fish, respectively.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has projected one tropical cyclone coupled with isolated rain showers in April despite the ongoing warm and dry spell.
