Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) attended a Stakeholder’s Consultation on the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines – East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Economic Corridors Study, held at the Garden Orchids Hotel, Zamboanga City on April 17, 2023.

Organized by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the study will assess economic benefits and spillovers, identify areas for expansion, and propose investment projects required to bridge connectivity gaps and promote cross-border trade, tourism, and investment across the focus areas within the sub-region.

The PFDA-ZFPC’s role in this study is to be one of the participants during the field visits and stakeholder consultations of the ADB Economic Corridors Study Team in the Philippines’ focus areas (Mindanao and Palawan). This is part of their strategic approach to maximize benefits from regional trading networks and connectivity in the sub-region.

Through this, the PFDA-ZFPC can assist in ensuring that the ADB study findings will be relevant and useful as the team pushes for priority policy agenda, programs, and projects supportive of promoting economic development within the sub-region.

Other than PFDA-ZFPC, the Economic Corridors Study Team received some insights and guidance from various private and public sectors in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
