Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Gender Focal Point System (PFDA-GFPS) conducted a three-day Gender and Development (GAD) Planning and Budgeting for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 and 2024 and GAD Agenda 2023 to 2028 at the University Hotel, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. on October 19 to 21, 2022.
The three-day workshop follows the Philippine Commission on Women’s (PCW) Memorandum Circular No. 2022-03 about the Preparation and Online Submission of FY 2023 GAD Plans and Budgets. The activity was attended by GAD TWG representatives from all PFDA Regional Fish Ports (RFPs) nationwide and PFDA Central Office.
PFDA-GFPS Overall Technical Working Group (TWG) Head and Public Information Division Chief Mr. Mc Christian Julius A. Macaranas II welcomed everyone in this three-day activity which he noted as the most intensive and extensive part of the entire PFDA-GFPS.
“I always say that GAD is a passion project because if it's not within you, it will not show. If ma-immerse ka sa GAD... it may impact the way you will raise your children and make things better for the society," Mr. Macaranas said.
For day one, each RFP representative had a one-by-one session to present their existing GPB 2023 and 2024. This was followed by the presentation and discussion of the GAD Agenda for 2023 to 2028 led by Mr. Macaranas on day two.
For the last activity, the GAD TWG Overall Head was joined by the Head of the Committee on Policy Formulation, Planning and Budget (CPFPB) Mr. Aaron Amberson A. Dalisay and GAD TWG Assistant Overall Head Ms. Mary Ann D. Daquer in the presentation of a consolidated GPB for 2023 and Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) 2023 computation for all RFPs and the Central Office.
This GAD activity was the first-ever face-to-face deliberation of the GBP and GAD Agenda since the pandemic started in 2020.
Twenty-two participants actively participated in the three-day workshop.
