The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority enjoins the nation in celebrating the 59th Fish Conservation Week with the theme, “Pagkain ng Bansa Siguruhin, Likas Kayang Produksyon ng Isda Isulong Natin!”
By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 316, the annual celebration of the Fish Conservation Week was transferred from the third week of October to the third week of September, alongside the declaration of the month of September as the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month.
As the government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) attached to the Department of Agriculture, the PFDA is mandated to promote the development of the fishing industry through the provision of post-harvest infrastructure facilities and essential services that improve efficiency in the handling and distribution of fish and fishery products.
The PFDA shares the objective of the Fish Conservation Week in raising awareness on the need to conserve and protect the aquatic resources of the Philippines, and to promote its importance to the Filipino well-being and to the country’s economy.
