Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), in partnership with the University of the Philippines – Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP-ISSI), conducted a Leadership and Management Training for personnel from the Central Office (CO) and Regional Fish Ports (RFP) holding senior level and supervisory positions, held on August 30 to 31, 2022 via teleconference. 

The two-day activity which was organized by the PFDA Administrative Services Department – Human Resource Division (ASD-HRD) aims to enhance the target participants’ skills in developing and motivating their subordinates and to equip them with the ability to define the responsibilities and authority of each member of management at all levels.

Ms. Crispina “Inday” B. Almonte of the UP-ISSI served as the resource speaker for the leadership training. Some of the main topics discussed by Ms. Almonte were Understanding Management Functions and Manager’s Roles, Leadership vs Management, and Leadership roles.

In addition, Ms. Inday also focused on the participants’ Competence and Skills and the Decision-making capabilities of Supervisors.

At the end of the two-day program, the participants were expected to further appreciate and apply leadership and managerial principles and realize the necessary competencies of effective leaders and managers for the achievement of organizational objectives.

Twenty-five personnel across all CO offices and RFP units actively participated in the two-day leadership and management workshop.
