Japan Consul General Iskihawa Yoshihisa toured the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) to visit the stalls of Mr. Retsu Sato, a Japanese national who owns Ten Point Manufacturing Corporation, held on July 20, 2022.

During the tour, ConGen Yoshihisa was toured by the PFDA-GSFPC team led by Administrative Services Division (ASD) Chief Mr. Paris Uldarico Y. Ayon. They discussed the design of Market Hall 1 and the fishing expedition of tuna handline boats. 

Tuna handline fishing is one of the most sustainable fishing methods that is still being practiced in various regions all over the world. By using significantly large hooks, this method of fishing can avoid the possibility of catching smaller fish species, therefore keeping the population of growing tuna in the ocean. Aside from being fish-friendly, handline fishing is popular with many fishing businesses because of its simplicity and low entry cost. 

Mr. Sato of Ten Point Mfg. Corp. follows this fishing method in his business. Some of his processed products are frozen tuna fillet, sliced, scrapped, and belly.
