As the industry continues to battle enhanced southwest monsoon rains, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFPs) regained their strengths and recorded a significant collective increase of 18.86 percent or equivalent to 8,229.54 metric tons (MT) of unloaded fish during the October 11 to 17, 2021 period. 

According to a two-week comparative report from the Operations Services Department (OSD), this week’s significant increase was greatly influenced by the noteworthy performance of the PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC). Data showed that PFDA-NFPC registered 4,167.21 MT of fish (66.05% increase).

In addition, the PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) has recovered from weeks of decline and has finally shifted to a positive trend. The port managed to unload 228.66 MT (28.66% increase) of fish for all its clients. 

Moreover, the PFDA – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) was also on top of its game this week. After weeks of decline, PFDA-DFPC made a positive shift and recorded 48.63 MT of fish (22.57% increase). 

As of October 17, all PFDA ports have unloaded a total of 873,412.05 MT of fish since the pandemic started in March last year.
