Despite facing a severe tropical storm, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFPs) managed to unload 6,923.62 metric tons (MT) of fish during the October 4 to 10, 2021 period.

According to a two-week comparative report from the Operations Services Department (OSD), PFDA RFPs suffered a minor decline due to moderate to rough seas prevailing over the seaboards of the country brought by Storm Maring. Nonetheless, all PFDA ports managed to deliver enough supply of fishery products to all their customers in their respective regions. 

Based on the report, the PFDA – Sual Fish Port (PFDA-SFP) was the only fish port that recorded an increase in weekly unloading. Data showed that PFDA-SFP unloaded 145.60 MT, or equivalent to a 0.36% increase.

On the other hand, despite a decline, the PFDA – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) contributed to almost half of this week’s total volume after registering 3,048.58 MT of fish and fishery products. 

As of October 10, all PFDA ports have unloaded a total of 863,585.08 MT of fish since the beginning of the pandemic last March 2020.
