Philippine Fisheries Development Authority - Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) participated in the KADIWA launching ceremony on April 2, 2025 at the Davao Fish Port Complex, Toril District, Davao City.
This program marked a significant step forward in strengthening the region’s agricultural and fishery sectors, offering direct access to fresh, affordable goods for local communities.
The event was organized by the PFDA in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA), local government units, farmers and fisherfolk, and other agencies, reinforcing the government’s commitment to food security, economic sustainability, and poverty alleviation.
PFDA-DFPC Port Manager Engr. Albert P. Aguinaldo expressed his gratitude for the collective efforts of government agencies, farmers, fisherfolks and consumers in making this possible.
“KADIWA highlights the importance of working together with different sectors to achieve sustainable programs. We remain committed to make Davao Fish Port not just a center for trade but also a partner in community development,” PM Aguinaldo noted.
Meanwhile, DA Regional Executive Director Macario “Bong” D. Gonzaga emphasized KADIWA’s core objectives. Subsequently, Mr. Jayson Rey Bayuba of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Mr. Mark Dave Cabaloca of the Department of Social Welfare and Department (DSWD), and City Agriculturist’s Office of Davao Officer-In-Charge Mr. Antonio R. Obsioma shared their insights and support for the initiative.
Afterwards, the ribbon cutting ceremony commenced, symbolizing the formal launch of the KADIWA in the PFDA-DFPC. A total of 13 exhibitors with 27 participants from different government agencies, farmers, fisherfolks and stakeholders attended the event.
The next operation of KADIWA at the Davao Fish Port Complex will be on April 16 and 24, 2025.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo aimed to foster cooperation between producers and consumers to achieve a thriving and self-sufficient agricultural sector ensuring a fresh, high-quality agricultural and fishery products that are sold at more affordable prices while giving producers fair market opportunities. It also promotes sustainable farming and fishing practices that contribute to food security and environmental conservation as well as to provide farmers and fisherfolk direct interaction and transaction.
