Philippine Fisheries Development Authority - Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC), in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), welcomed the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries and Government Internship Program (GIP) interns on March 6, 2025 at the Admin Building, PFDA-NFPC, Navotas City.
The collaboration aimed to provide temporary employment and valuable work experience to TUPAD beneficiaries and GIP interns, and to fast track the implementation and monitoring of DOLE programs and projects related to employment facilitation and social protection, all of which directly contributes to the goal of inclusive growth through massive employment generation and substantial poverty reduction.
Along with a welcome ceremony for TUPAD beneficiaries and GIP interns at the PFDA-NFPC, the event featured a contract signing between PFDA-NFPC, led by Port Manager Ms. Luz P. Ortiz, and DOLE represented by DOLE CAMANAVA Field Office Director Rowella V. Grande, solidifying their commitment to implementing these programs effectively. A brief orientation was also conducted to guide the beneficiaries and interns on their roles, responsibilities, and the opportunities ahead.
The GIP is a component of KABATAAN 2000 under Executive Order (EO) no. 139 s. 1993, and DOLE Administrative Order No. 260-15, which aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers, particularly the poor/indigent and young workers, to serve the general public in government agencies/entities projects and programs at the national and local level.
The TUPAD program is a community-based safety net initiative that provides temporary employment to workers in the informal sector. It specifically targets the underemployed or workers who do not receive sufficient wages in their current jobs; the self-employed individuals who work for themselves; and the displaced marginalized workers or those who have lost their jobs or experienced reduced income due to the pandemic.
Attended by five GIP interns and twenty TUPAD beneficiaries, the event was led by the Office of the Port Manager of the PFDA-NFPC; the Market Operations Division (MOD) for the GIP, while the Food Safety and Environmental Management Unit (FSEMU) for TUPAD.
