Thirty-one personnel from the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Technical Services Department (PFDA-TSD) and PFDA Project Management Office (PFDA-PMO) engaged in an orientation on Food Safety Standard Structural Requirements of the Market Hall and Cold Storage Facilities on October 4, 2024, at the PFDA Central Office, Diliman, Quezon City.
The orientation is a part of the ongoing joint initiative of the PFDA – Operations Services Department (PFDA-OSD) and the TSD to harmonize all ongoing and future PFDA projects with the Food Safety and Environmental standards, policies, and laws.
The one-day workshop was geared towards reinforcing the agency’s understanding of the structural prerequisites of the Market Halls and Cold Storages in compliance with Food Safety, with the end goal of obtaining certification from the regulatory agencies on Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS).
Mr. Dennis E. Tiotangco, former Fisheries Inspection and Quarantine Division (FIQD) Chief under BFAR, was the resource speaker during the orientation.
The OSD – Quality Assurance Division, headed by Mr. Emilio Paul M. Candelaria, organized the one-day event.
