PFDA Agency News 06062024 PFDA IFPC trains stall owners vendors on food safety quality customer service

Some 56 food stall owners and vendors from the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) participated in a productivity toolbox training on food safety and quality customer service on May 21, 2024, in Iloilo City.

During the one-day training organized by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and in coordination with the PFDA-IFPC Food Safety and Environmental Management Unit (FSEMU) the participants discussed various topics, including a refresher course on Food Safety 101 and a discussion on Service Quality and Building Customer Advocacy.

The Food Safety 101 topic refreshed the food stall owners’ knowledge of basic food safety principles such as cleanliness and recommended procedures for preventing foodborne illnesses.

Meanwhile, the discussion on Service Quality and Building Customer Advocacy emphasized the importance of strong customer relations by assuring customer satisfaction. This topic focused on developing and providing services that meet customer needs and expectations.

As the “Paluto sa Iloilo Fish Port” gains popularity and traction from the locals and some travelers from nearby provinces, both of the topics discussed could help the food vendors enhance their food stalls and customer service by making their area of business more presentable and compliant with food safety standards.
