Fish unloading in Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) peaked at 55,277.46 metric tons (MT) this March 2024, equivalent to a 35.82% increase compared to the previous month’s unloading.
Based on previous reports, this month’s fish unloading is the highest volume recorded in 2024, and the first to reach the 50K mark since July 2022.
Leading this significant increase is the PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) with 21,064.79 MT (75.59% increase) of fish delivered to its clients and stakeholders. Continuous positive fish unloading is expected in the succeeding months as the Navotas port welcomes the peak season.
Moreover, the PFDA – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) maintained a positive trend in its monthly unloading volume with 26,904.01 MT (15.54% increase).
Meanwhile, in terms of percentage increase, the PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) dominated the chart after recording 2,422.95 MT of fish, or a 333.79% increase compared to last month’s volume.
Furthermore, the sole Visayas port, the PFDA – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC), maintained an upward streak with 2,287.43 MT of fish (4.95% increase).
In addition, the PFDA – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) and the PFDA – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) recovered from their slight decline last month. This March, the two Mindanao ports delivered 668.08 MT (1.27% increase) and 216.57 MT (6.28% increase) of fish and other fishery products, respectively.
On the other hand, the PFDA – Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA-LFPC) experienced bad weather in March. Nevertheless, the Quezon port unloaded 1,687.55 MT of much-needed fish to its consumers.
Subsequently, the PFDA – Sual Fish Port (PFDA-SFP) and the PFDA – Camaligan Fish Port (PFDA-CFP) continue their efforts to deliver fish to their clients and stakeholders. The two Luzon ports unloaded 24.5 MT and 1.59 MT of fish, respectively.
