Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC), led by the NFPC-Food Safety and Environmental Management Unit (FSEMU), resumed its Think Green, Go Green Project on February 5, 2024.

As part of the continuation of the greening project, port staff planted 20 Norfolk pine saplings around the PFDA-NFPC Motorpool Compound.

The project was initially launched by PFDA-NFPC Port Manager Ms. Luz P. Ortiz on August 8, 2023, in conjunction with the PFDA’s 47th-anniversary celebration, where they planted the same tree species around the PFDA-NFPC Administrative Building at PFDA Gender and Development (GAD) Center.

According to various studies, the Norfolk pine or Araucaria heterophylla have air-purifying properties and are reported to absorb volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde. In addition, this holiday plant has become a symbol of resilience and adaptability.
