Weekly Briefer for the July 19 to 25, 2021 period and volume of fish sold at isDA ON THE GO as of July 28, 2021

Due to intense persistent downpour caused by Typhoon Fabian, fish unloading volume in Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) went down by half compared from previous week’s record but still managed to significantly unload 6,056.45 metric tons (MT) during the July 19 to 25, 2021 unloading period.

According to a two-week comparative report from the Operations Services Department (OSD), this week’s decline was due to Fabian which enhanced southwest monsoon rains or Hanging Habagat affecting various port and market operations in all RFPs.

However, PFDA – Sual Fish Port (PFDA-SFP) maintained an increasing record after registering a 64.31% increase, or equivalent to 79.13 MT of fish. 

On a brighter note, the agency’s isDA ON THE GO (iOTG) Project continuously provides quality and affordable fresh-frozen fishery products in Metro Manila and various areas in Luzon despite the sudden shift in fish unloading volume. 

Based on the report, the iOTG project has already sold a total of 122,529.17 kilograms of affordable fishery products and has served more than 435,118 families since the start of the pandemic last March 2020.
