Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) met with Philippine National Oil Company Renewables Corporation (PNOC RC) to discuss potential renewable energy development and other energy efficiency projects on June 2, 2021 via teleconference.
PNOC RC is a government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) which aims to be the government’s arm in promoting, developing, and implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency programs in the country.
During the meeting, PNOC RC discussed the steps and needed requirements to be taken and provided by PFDA and its Regional Fish Ports (RFP) for the possible project implementation which includes preparation of memorandum of understanding between the two agencies, scouting of target location sites of the project, identification of other energy conservation opportunities for the PFDA RFPs, and the like.
In addition, PNOC RC presented their contribution for the potential partnership with PFDA including a detailed study of the project, important paperwork for the project repair, securing permits and licenses, and preparing of service contract with the Department of Energy, among others.
PFDA General Manager Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan expressed his excitement about this possible partnership with PNOC RC. He said that they have noticed several cold storages owned by port clients that already installed solar energy panels to power their operations.
“We are very interested about this renewable energy projects with PNOC RC. We are happy na nag-initiate kayo (PNOC RC) na makapag-usap tayo about potential projects like these. This is a good way to fast-track looming partnerships between GOCCs,” GM Pangapalan said.
On June 17, PFDA General Manager Atty. Glen A. Pangapalan has given PNOC RC the green light coordinate with PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) to conduct an initial site survey for the project.
Together with the GM, Acting Assistant General Manager Ms. Iris R. de Vera, Technical Services Department (TSD) Manager, Engr. Danilo A. Axalan and Engr. Tito Rodriguez from TSD, and Legal Division Officer-In-Charge Atty. Jose R. Ruiz III took part in the discussion for PFDA.
