PFDA WEEKLY BRIEFER FOR MAY 17 TO 23 PERIOD

Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) observed a 3.73 percent drop in the volume of unloaded fishery products to 11,975.87 MT on May 17-23, 2021, according to a two-week comparative report collected by the Operations Services Department (OSD).

As the NCR Plus eases to GCQ with heightened restrictions, PFDA-Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) managed to continue its positive unloading streak with 4,000.79 MT, a 1.33% increase compared to last week’s volume. 

After experiencing a decline in the previous week, PFDA-Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA-LFPC) had a significant recovery with an 11.50% growth, equivalent to 398.07 MT. 

In addition, PFDA-Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) also obtained a positive record with 510.72 MT unloaded fish supply (1.10%).

In the meantime, PFDA-Davao Fish Port Complex registered a 1403.17% jump (125.06 MT) in its weekly fish unloading a week after being directly hit by Tropical Storm Crising. 

PFDA-Sual Fish Port also recorded a two-fold increase (48.09 MT) in its weekly fish unloading. 

On the other hand, PFDA-Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) almost reached a positive record but came short with a 0.07% decline. Nonetheless, the port was able to unload 1,674.55 MT of fish supply. 

Although PFDA-General Santos Fish Port (PFDA-GSFPC) remains on the recovery stage since last week’s tropical storm, the port managed to unload 5,008.93 MT of fish. 

By far, PFDA RFPs have unloaded a total of 669,750.78 MT of fish since the implementation of community quarantine in March 2020.
