Popularly known as the "Heart of the Philippines", the city of Iloilo had more reasons to be proud of after the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority - Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) recorded a 19 percent increase, equivalent to 539.07 metric tons (MT), in its weekly unloading volume during the May 7-13 period.
According to a centralized fish unloading report by the PFDA RFPs, Operations Services Department (OSD) and Public Information Division (PID), PFDA-IFPC successfully maintains an upward fish unloading trend since a slight decline brought by recent super typhoon Bising in mid-April.
Based on the report, milkfish took the position as the number one fish species with the highest supply at 108.19 MT, followed by galunggong (89.29 MT), eastern little tuna (53.20 MT), sardines (44.59 MT), and matangbaka (39.10 MT).
As PFDA-IFPC sustains its weekly unloading volume, the port will continue to celebrate its continuous increase by working tirelessly to provide enough fish products to its clients and stakeholders.
