Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) has recorded a significant improvement in its unloading volume following the government’s implementation of a less stringent Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces last April 12.
According to a joint report by PFDA - Operations Services Department (OSD) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), PFDA-NFPC has unloaded 3,759.59 metric tons (MT) of fish supply during the April 8-14, 2021 period, a 200 MT increase compared to last week’s unloading volume.
Of this total, galunggong (fresh) recorded the highest unloading with a total of 2,280.36 MT. Milkfish, tilapia, galunggong (frozen), and sardines (tunsoy and tamban) were also on the list of the top five fish species with the highest availability of supply.
With the MECQ in place until April 30, PFDA-NFPC will maintain its positive feat to consistently provide its clients and stakeholders with adequate fish supply.
