GAD Mainstreaming. The PFDA GAD Focal Point System Technical Working Group organized a session on the implementation of Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) in various Flagship Projects, November 11.

The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) is continuously pushing for initiatives relevant to mainstreaming of Gender and Development in the agency.

Recently, the PFDA GAD Focal Point System Technical Working Group organized a session on the implementation of Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) in various Flagship Projects like rehabilitation and improvement of Navotas Fish Port Complex, Lucena Fish Port Complex, Davao Fish Port Complex, and Iloilo Fish Port Complex, November 11.

Aside from checking the GAD responsiveness of various PFDA projects, the results of the HGDG checklist will be the basis for the attributed cost as required by the Magna Carta of Women and Joint Circular 2012-01: Guidelines for the Preparation of Annual GAD Plans and Budgets and Accomplishment Reports.

The session was also part of the preparation for the activities committed for the FY 2021 and updates.

According to the Philippine Commission on Women website, the “Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) was formulated by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in 2004 in collaboration with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW, formerly the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women or NCRFW) and the Official Development Assistance-Gender and Development (ODA-GAD) Network, with funding support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)”.

Further, the HGDG was developed to provide a common instrument in integrating gender perspectives in development programs and projects among government agencies, donor organizations, and other stakeholders. (Public Information Division)
